Grace is Good

It was reported by WWD last week that Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington is hard at work on her autobiography.  She will be helped with this task by former Men's Vogue editor in chief Jay Fielden.  “We’re just starting, and I think it’s going to be a really fun project,” she told WWD, adding: “I’m hoping it’s going to be very rich in fashion history. It’s more than just about me.”  Before she was an editor, Coddington was a model who was shot by some legendary lensmen including Lord Snowdon and Helmet Newton.  I'm sure there are some good stories from those years as well as her time at both British and American Vogue.  It was The September Issue that introduced us to this amazing woman who I like to think of as the moral compass of the movie and I can't wait to read about her inspiring life in her own words.

The September Issue

As Candy Pratts Price so succinctly said it in The September Issue, "September is the January in fashion." September is the when all the magic happens and the guidebook for the entire season is the September issue of Vogue. Halle Berry is the lucky cover girl and she and the interiors of her shoot by Mario Testino look amazing.  I can't wait to get a copy in my hot little hands!

Horsing Around

The first wave of September magazines are out but I'm still enjoying the August 2010 issue of Vogue and this chic spread of Raquel Zimmermann and a horse named Ollie.  I can't even imagine what the tourists on Sixth Avenue thought when they saw them walking down the street.  I'm also swooning over the fall fashions. While I probably won't be wearing a cape this fall, I will definitely be buying that Adam tie neck blouse!  Bon weekend!

La Bastide de Marie

Remember that fabulous Provence farmhouse where Marion Cotillard was languishing in the July 2010 issue of Vogue magazine?  Well, turns out that it's really a hotel called La Bastide de Marie.  Not only can you languish there but you can also relax at the spa, walk the gardens and enjoy the haute cuisine.  We not be able to look like a French movie star but it's nice to know we can at least feel like one!

Hot Town

We dream all winter for summer weather to arrive and then we complain about it when it does. But in our defense, it really has been hot and steamy in New York this week. I don't want to wish summer away but really I am looking forward to fall when I can wear chic outfits like these seen in Vogue recently. Of course, I probably like them even more since they were shot in Paris. Doesn't everything look better in Paris? Wonder what their weather is like this week.

July in Provence

I am swooning over the photos of Marion Cotillard in the July 2010 issue of Vogue! Mario Testino shot the stunning French star and Oscar winner in La Bastide de Marie in the South of France and both Marion and Provence look stunning! Makes me want to book a trip immediately. To see more, check out the behind the scenes video online or pick up the new issue of Vogue! C'est magnifique!
